Three months ago the title “Corona Times” would have conveyed that I was getting together with friends for a beer. Today, it means something quite different. The Corona Virus pandemic has changed our lives. I have nothing on my schedule. I rarely leave my home. Our family is taking walks together, playing games together, and having deep heartfelt conversations. Amid all the sports, homework, ministry, and events of the past, we did not see what we were missing. The distractions are fading away. What is important is floating to the top. It is life-giving.
2 Timothy 2:4 says, “No one in military service gets entangled in matters of everyday life; otherwise he will not please the one who recruited him.” This is a time to evaluate how we are spending our time. Have you been getting entangled in matters of everyday life? This is not a time to walk in fear. As believers in Christ, we don’t walk in fear but, in power, love, and with a sound mind. Right before Paul tells us this in 2 Timothy 1:7, he tells us in verse 6 to rekindle God’s gift that He has given us. What is the gift that God has given you? Are you using it? Are others being changed by it? Is it giving life to others and yourself?
Change isn’t always easy. Fear is the biggest culprit that keeps change from being life-giving. Fear can also keep change from coming. What are you afraid of? Is your fear keeping you and others from experiencing the abundant life that God promised us? These “Corona Times” are a gift from God. Take advantage of the extra time He is giving you. Use the time to deepen relationships with those around you. Use the time to re-evaluate how you’ve been living. Make decisions for your future, to not get entangled in matters of everyday life. But, instead to seek God, serve others by using your gifts and live abundantly.

I printed your new post and gave it to our Dad to read. When he handed it back to me he say with enthusiasm, âShe is a GOOD writerâ. I thought the example you used from 2 Timothy 2:4 was well applied for our situation at this time. Many people are fearful. I am glad I have a God who can take the fear away as I TRUST Him.
I love you,
Mom
